The Story of Lā‘ie
Envision Lā‘ie is about looking to the future. It’s about campus planning, affordable housing, traffic, drainage, energy consumption, demographics, architecture, tourism trends, schools, community resources and a host of other issues. However, we believe that envisioning Lā‘ie’s future begins by understanding issues far greater than traffic patterns and drainage. Its about understanding the essence of what Lā‘ie is all about. We like to call it The Lā‘ie Story. This story is best told by those who live and work in Lā‘ie.

I enjoyed the opportunity of participating in your community workshop that was held on 4/28/2009 at BYUH. I was wondering if the Laie community is interested in having their children become leaders of sustainability through renewable energy technology education at Kahuku High School. I feel Laie and the Ko’olauloa area is the best place in the world to learn and test just about every kind of new renewable energy technology that is out there because of our physical location, climate, access to the ocean, vegetation, etc. It would be wonderful if renewable energy education could be taught at KHIS and in the Ko’olauloa elementary schools. We need to stop the mainland brain drain that separates our families and provide the means for our children to have high paying careers at home which can free us from depending entirely on a fossil fuel economy. For more details, please visit our Ko’olauloa renewable energy education site: http://renewable-resource.com/.
