Envision Lā‘ie Newsletter
Check out the latest Envision Lā‘ie Newsletter with an update on the final community meeting on the Ko‘olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan:
Several hundred residents showed up in the blue Envision Lā‘ie t-shirts to show their support. From beginning to end of the meeting, the Kahuku High cafeteria was awash in a sea of blue. The strong showing sent a clear message to City staff and consultants that the large majority of Ko’olau Loa favors growth proposals for our area. Attendance by supporters was a reflection of an extensive, scientific survey last year of nearly 700 Oahu and area residents. The results of that survey showed that 3 out of 4 Ko’olau Loa residents support amending the City’s plan to allow growth for BYU-Hawaii and developing housing at Malaekahana. The meeting was a great success, due largely to those who attended even if they did not voice their support — just being there conveyed a strong message. A big mahalo to all those who came out to show their support.
