KSCP Community Meeting Video Posted
On Tuesday Dec. 7, 2010, the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting hosted a community meeting on the draft of the Ko’olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) at Kahuku High School. This video, produced by BYU-Hawaii students for Envision Laie, shows the overwhelming support of the community (blue shirts) for the KSCP. Pane Meatoga, President of the Lā‘ie Community Association, wrote about the draft plan in an editorial that appeared recently in The Star-Advertiser:
The city’s Koolauloa Sustainable Communities Plan (KSCP) offers us the opportunity to improve our quality of life: affordable housing options for local residents; commercial areas to diversify our economy and attract new jobs; more parks and recreational places; and views of the land and ocean that will keep what we have grown to love — our life in the country.
Comments on the Ko‘olau Loa Sustainable Communities Draft Plan are being accepted until Jan. 15, 2011. To comment, please click here. A new email message addressed to the city’s consultant will pop-up, with “cc” copies addressed to the city’s Department of Planning and Permitting and the Lā‘ie Community Association (for general tally purposes). Note: Mac Mail users may need to insert a comma in the place of the semi-colon between the two “cc” addresses. You can also send an email directly to: info@hhf.com, info@honoluludpp.org and info@laiecommunityassociation.org.
Comments need not be lengthy to be effective — a statement regarding your support for the plan and why you want to see it implemented is fine. However, all comments should include a name and an address. Encourage your household members, family and friends to send in their comments too — every opinion matters and every voice counts.
