Laie Shopping Center Changes
Our community’s shopping center continues to improve. Our last newsletter featured the grand opening ceremony for the new Castle Medical Center Clinic in the Laie Shopping Center. Residents and patrons will see more upgrades at the center in coming weeks.
‘Ohana Care Chiropractic will soon be moving its offices to a custom, design-built space with four separate rooms for check-in, chiropractic therapy, and massage services. ‘Ohana Care Chiropractic’s head physician, Dr. Ty Dennis, said, “These new accommodations will allow our therapists to see more patients in a professional atmosphere, and increase service to the community; we’re excited about the benefits of this move.”
The current ‘Ohana Care Chiropractic space will be reconfigured to create new restrooms for the center. The expansion includes a restroom for women and a restroom for men, both with multiple stalls, in addition to the existing family restroom. The restrooms will feature changing tables for babies, granite counter tops, porcelain floors and walls, and energy efficient LED lighting. Construction is expected to begin in the next several days.

Laie’s Hotel Celebrates its First Anniversary
– Special Local Resident Rate Offered
How time flies! Laie’s hotel recently hit its one year mark and is already celebrating its first anniversary. The Laie Courtyard by Marriott opened its doors on June 29th of last year with a grand opening and dedication on August 29, 2015. It has had an incredibly successful first year run with patronage and support coming from both visitors and residents alike.
As part of the anniversary celebration, the Courtyard team is happy to offer a special rate to local residents, as a grateful acknowledgement of the community’s support for the hotel. The local resident anniversary rate is $159 a night (includes parking/ one vehicle per room) for bookings made for stays Sunday through Thursday.
“Local residents” are defined as those residing from Ka’a'awa to Waimea, and the rate is good from August 14 to August 31, 2016. Proof of Hawaii ID and local residency is required at check-in. (The regular Kama’aina rate for all Hawaii residents begins at $189 a night and does not include parking.)
Milton Lafitaga, the hotel’s Director of Sales, said, “We are delighted to extend this special rate to our local community that has been so supportive and helpful in getting the hotel up and running.”
He added, “We certainly appreciate all that residents have done to make our guests feel welcomed in the community — at the beaches, the eateries, and in the shopping center — there is a recurring theme in our guest surveys, and it’s that they feel welcomed, and feel the Aloha everywhere they go, in and around the community”.
“Occupancy at the hotel has been strong and growing this first year, as guests look beyond Waikiki to experience true Polynesian hospitality”, remarked Lafitaga.
